2012 theme Beyond Borders

The 4th Edition of CFF was an event that not only celebrated short films but that championed causes, raised awareness on current issues and events, encouraged transfer of skills and know-how, and delivered quality short films. In 2012 and as tribute to the events that had been taking place in Lebanon, the region, and worldwide, the theme was set as "Beyond Borders" which referred to films that revolve around transcending borders in both the concrete and abstract sense such as physical boundaries as well as controversial topics such as religion, gender, race, among others. Furthermore, several new dimensions were added to the 2012 festival which included:

"Going Green": Material used throughout the duration of the festival was either reused or recycled.

Holding A Doc Fitness, in collaboration with DocuDays, master course on the second day of the festival. The class focused on the phases of documentary development and was conducted by Khalil Dreifus Zaarour, a Lebanese filmmaker.

Holding the event under the patronage of the Municipality of Beirut.

Listing the festival on the Ministry of Tourism's Agenda along other international festivals.
